There are a few things to keep in mind while packing a box

Packing a box for moving can be tricky. You want to make sure you pack everything securely, but you also don't want to use too much packing material and end up with a heavy box. Here are some tips and hacks to help make the process easier.

Paper or plastic?

To protect items, we prefer wrapping paper. It’s cheap and super helpful in moving. Line the box's sides and bottom with packing paper for softer items like clothing or bedding. This will prevent your belongings from getting dirty. If you’re packing solid items, add extra paper in the bottom for a cushion.

Similar size and place.

When packing, it's helpful to put like-sized items from the same area together. This makes it easier to unpack and also creates a more stable box. Packing heavier items on the bottom and lighter items on top will also help keep your box from toppling over.

Spare your back!

It's important not to overload your boxes. Packing too many items in a box will make it too heavy to lift, which can be difficult and dangerous. Try to pack only what's necessary so that the box is manageable. Use smaller containers for heavier items and larger boxes for lighter items.

One way to pack a box efficiently is to fill empty spaces with packing paper. This will help to keep your belongings from shifting around during transport and also prevent the box from becoming too heavy. If you have any extra space in the top of the box, fill it with clothes or other lightweight items. Packing this way will help to keep your belongings safe and secure.

Don’t pack the vacuum yet.

When packing soft items, like clothes or bedding, removing all the air from the bag is essential. This will help to keep the items from becoming wrinkled or damaged. One way to do this is to use a vacuum cleaner. Attach the vacuum cleaner's hose to the opening of the bag and turn it on. The vacuum will remove all the air from the bag, creating a tight seal. You can then close the bag with a zip tie or other type of closure. Any large plastic bag will do, but you can buy space bags that are designed for such things and are reusable. By the way, give this task to the kids. They love it.

Another way to pack soft items is to roll them up tightly. This will help to prevent wrinkles and also save space in the box. Start by folding the item in half lengthwise.

Put the largest items at the bottom. No need for the extra lining to pad the bottom box, but remember to line the box to keep your items clean.

Where does it go?

Label your boxes! When you're finished packing, be sure to label your boxes. This will help you know what's inside each box and make unpacking a breeze. Use a permanent marker to write the box's contents on the outside and which room it should go in.

Packing can be a daunting task, but following these simple tips can make the process much easier. By packing smartly and efficiently, you can avoid damaging your belongings and make unpacking a breeze. Be sure to label your boxes to know what's inside them and where they should go. With these tips in mind, you're ready to start packing!
